Hingham is a community that has much to offer its residents, including a rich American history, unparalleled architecture, beautiful and safe common spaces, excellent public schools and libraries, cultural activities, such as the South Shore Conservatory, and close proximity to Boston and other popular area attractions, including beaches and Cape Cod.

The town’s numerous parks, conservation lands, general open space and historically significant landmarks make it truly a unique town. Residents celebrate the area’s historical significance with an Annual Fourth of July Parade through downtown Hingham; as well as celebrate an annual tradition of celebrating “Christmas in the Square”; a large town wide event where local shop keepers decorate their storefronts with seasonal decorations and families come to celebrate traditional holiday merriment - music, crafts for kids, a puppet show, Victorian Carolers, horse-drawn hayrides & more.

Perhaps the most unique and wonderful about Hingham is its downtown area. Best described as charming, locally owned business thrive in the center of town providing a wide variety of restaurants, clothing stores, coffee chops, entertainment and service establishments. Most well known perhaps, is the first Talbots retail store in the United States, Crossing Main clothing, the Upper Crust pizzeria and the historically significant move theater-Loring Hall.
